The Childrens Society

This post is a piece of homework on the Children's society.

About them:

They are a leading children's charity established in 1881. They are committed to helping children, whether they're feeling scared  isolated or abandoned; children who are constantly living in fear and harm, or faced with danger and disadvantages in their childhood.

What they do:

They give support to children when they need it most. Often helping with children who have been forced to runaway due to neglect, abuse and isolation. They also have services stop children keeping them from resorting to crime.

How they do it:

They work with children and young people who are struggling by putting on huge projects. They have something called The Good Childhood Inquiry. It's aims are to develop a better understanding of children to improve relationships with children. They use their evidence to inform MP's of the problems facing children and young people today.

Here's a link to their website where you can gain a better understanding of The Children's Society:

Charity shops need a hand

Today we've been set the task of helping out local charity shops in Wymondham. We'll be making posters, leaflets, T.V. ad's and radio ad's to try and get people to donate better quality things to charity shops. To help us get started we watched a couple of clips from "Mary queen of Shops" staring Mary Portas. This showed us that people just donate anything they want, ranging from high quality goods and old nappies. I feel that it is shocking that people donate such low quality products, if we can show other people how shocking it is perhaps they will donate better quality products. We could do this by showing them first hand what is donated, include it in our posters or have our advert based on it. I'm going to include a link to "Mary queen of Shops" on wikipedia.

What I think we'll be doing this year

Artefact:

We will be making an artefact which could be something useful, nice to look at or just what you wanted to make. e.g. an African mask is an artefact.

Campaign:

We will be looking at different techniques when it comes to making a campaign and putting one on. So we will have to work out what makes one good. e.g. Controversial?

Performance:

This covers just about everything from actually performing to just the selling of the tickets. e.g
